Amanda Ellis is a freelance journalist and editor based in Perth, Western Australia. She writes for ScienceNetwork WA and also works as copyeditor for her own business, Quenda Communications.

From October 2008 until April 2009, Amanda worked as a full-time journalist for Aspermont, a publisher of mining and construction news. During her time with the industry specialist, she worked as a staff reporter for ResourceStocks magazine and the daily news site MiningNews.net. She also subedited the publisher's full range of products, including Australia's Mining MonthlyContractor magazine and ConstructionIndustryNews.net.
 
While living in the United Kingdom from 2007 to 2008, Amanda was a freelance contributor to the Newsquest regional tabloid The Argus and Brighton's mind-body-spirit magazine Rocks. She completed stints on the paper's subeditors' desk and its news team – writing news stories and feature articles.
 
Amanda has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia with a double major in marketing and human-resource management, and a minor in business law. She also has a Certificate in Journalism (Sub-editing) awarded by the UK's National Council for the Training of Journalists last year. 
 
She is a member of the Society of Editors Western Australia, the Media Entertainment & Arts Alliance, and EASE, the European Association of Science Editors. Amanda is also an associate of SfEP, the UK Society for Editors and Proofreaders.
